Participate in research
We believe we are the largest provider of radio-iodine for hyperthyroid cats not just in the UK but in mainland Europe and this means along with our extensive experience we also have a substantial and developing clinical database. Although our main focus is on providing the best clinical care for each individual patient we are also interested in the disease itself and our database is a powerful tool that can yield valuable information.
Our first original clinical research project is currently in press and results from collaboration with the University of Cambridge. There is currently no shortage of research ideas and it would be really helpful to extend our list of people we can collaborate with in different areas of enquiry. This includes universities, vets in practice, commercial laboratories and cat owners because we believe collaboration is insightful. As each project develops we can then more quickly make contact. It would be a major achievement if it were possible to identify a definitive cause of feline hyperthyroidism and a means of preventing it but until then the body-wide effects of the disease means there are many areas of enquiry we can contribute to.
How to participate in our research
We do have a number of active research projects and many more ideas for future projects and it would be a huge help to have a working directory of people we can collaborate with, as appropriate to each project. We’re happy to hear from colleagues in practice, at universities, at commercial laboratories and at the frontline – cat owners – if you are happy to participate in future projects. Please Contact Us to express your interest and when an appropriate project is ready we will be in touch.
